Why I Write: Journaling as Self-Care

For me, writing is more than just a skill or a habit—it is self-care, therapy, and a way to process life. It is how I make sense of the world around me, how I reflect on the challenges and victories, how I hold onto the lessons life teaches me.

As a solicitor, as a leader, as a mother, as a woman, I carry so much. Some days are filled with joy and gratitude, others with frustration and exhaustion. Writing gives me a space to release all of that—to put my emotions into words, to see them on a page, to make peace with them.

  •  I write to remember—the clients I’ve journeyed with, the struggles I’ve overcome, the moments that have shaped me.

  •  I write to heal—to let go of the weight of hard days, to process disappointment, to remind myself of who I am beyond the roles I play.

  •  I write to connect—to share my story in the hope that someone else finds comfort, encouragement, or inspiration in my words.

Journaling is my way of keeping a record of my truth. Of honoring my experiences. Of ensuring that even in the busiest, most overwhelming seasons of life, I still take time to check in with myself.

So, I write. And in doing so, I breathe, reflect, and grow.
